Wii HDD rumor debunked

The latest Wii rumour doing the rounds has been set straight by Nintendo UK. Japanese gaming mag Gamelabo was the source of the gossip doing the rounds that Ninty had a hard disk add-on in the works for their Wii console. Not so says Nintendo's blighty boys.

They called the hear-say "pure rumour and speculation" when chatting to UK site GamesIndustry.biz. Not surprising really - the Wii's existing SD card functionality can already provide gigs of storage for not a lot of money without any messy external addons compromising the console's tiny form factor.

However, fear not Ninty-natter followers - hot off the press stateside is Gamespot saying that another Nintendo product will have some extra hardware coming soon. It's the DS this time, with a headset. This comes to accompany the voice chat functionality in the upcoming releases of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Further link-clicking reveals that this will probably hit the shelves on the 23rd April in the States. No word on any other regions as yet, but check back soon.
