Sony America advises against PSP 2.0
News - Sorry chaps, but...
Sony America are currently advising North American PSP purchasers not to download the 2.0 upgrade, despite its availability online. The Japanese version of the latest PSP patch has been available for about a week, but Sony are telling gamers they cannot offer technical support for the upgrade as yet, though the patch will be available stateside in the near future. Sony have already informed us that the ever-looming launch of the PSP in PAL regions (Europe and Australasia) will come pre-loaded with the version 2.0 upgrade, so presumably Americans can expect the upgrade 'officially' before the September 1st launch.
A message aimed at non-Japanese gamers, downloading the upgrade from the Japanese site, was posted there in the week. It read: "CAUTION: This update is only for customers who obtained PSP (PlayStation Portable) for Japan which model number is PSP-1000 or PSP-1000 K. Upon completion of preparing, we will announce update information for the other countries/areas customers via SCE Group Web Site or other channels. For theses customers who obtained PSP in the other countries/areas, please DO NOT update PSP through this web site."
