UMD pricing revealed by Sony

News - Not cheap...

Only gaming news by association, we're guessing, but word reaches us today of Sony's pricing plans for the release of films on the PSP, also letting-slip that The House of Flying Daggers, will join the initial contingent of movies on April 19th. New releases will be priced at about $29, while older movies will weigh in at nearly $20. Hardly cheap, then, but we're guessing Sony are merely attempting to turn a profit from what will probably be a fairly niche market. Hellboy, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, XXX and Once Upon A Time In Mexico will all be available at the lower price point, though the newly confirmed martial arts flick is a debutant, and will be priced accordingly.

In Japan meanwhile, new flicks will cost about 3,900 Yen - or around £20 - which seems a little steep though much depends upon what Sony chooses to release. We'd love to hear something of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, for which a UMD release has already been confirmed. We shall see. More on this soon...
