Developers plan big for DS

With Nintendo's original if bizarre-sounding 'dual-screen' handheld device but days away from an official unveiling at E3, Nintendo have spoken-up regarding the new gadget's prospects and the unparalleled support many developers and publishers are planning for the system despite very stiff competition from the upcoming Sony PSP. 'Over 100 companies' are apparently planning games for the innovative DS, including THQ, Electronic Arts, Activision, Atari, Ubisoft, Majesco, Capcom, Sega, Konami, Hudson Soft, Namco, Bandai, Koei and Square Enix.

"It's going to energize both developers and consumers with amazing new game mechanics and new game design. Once more, Nintendo leads the way with something unexpected and totally innovative," commented an Atari spokesperson. "The Nintendo dual screen is something that we're really excited about developing for," added one EA bigwig.

'Nintendo DS will revolutionize how people approach, perceive and enjoy video games, while including additional options that enhance the game-play experience' the official press release assures us, and we certainly await the full unveiling with great interest in the hope of testing Nintendo's hyperbole.
