Worms take Siege in new outing

News from Sega Europe informs us that a brand new addition to the long-running Worms series will be revealed next month at E3. The new game is in development at veteran developer Team 17 in the UK and is currently on track for a release on the PS2 and Xbox come the end of the year.

Epic historically inspired battles will allow the player to control a team of budding worms commanding garrisons in the bizarrely titled Worms Forts Under Siege. Locations forming a backdrop to this high tempo worming include Egypt and ancient Troy, while Arthurian knights, and samurai worms will be included.

"Building on the strengths that have made the Worms games such a success, this latest installment sees the series taken to a new level of gameplay," commented Team 17’s Debbie Bestwick. "With massive weaponry and fortifications, there's a whole new strategic element that really adds to the engaging gameplay and addictiveness of the Worms experience."
