Australian R18+ rating bill to hit parliament very soon

News - Hopefully this will mean less banned titles down under in future

It seems like 2012 might be the year that the Australian games industry finally gets an 18 mature rating option.

It has been confirmed that the long-discussed R18+ rating bill will come to the Australian parliament for debate in the next two weeks.

A spokesperson for Federal Minister for Home Affairs, Jason Clare said: "Our plans are to introduce the R18+ bill in the first session of parliament this year. If it passes the Lower House, it will then go to the Senate for the same process."

The arrival of the new rating band should reduce the occurrence of bans for titles like Syndicate which was the latest title to fall foul of the Australian games ratings system.
