ArenaNet promises Guild Wars 2 out in the Year of the Dragon

News - Guild Wars 2 should be out this year

Guild Wars developer ArenaNet has promised that their sequel will be released some time in 2012.

They have been approaching developing Guild Wars 2 using the 'it'll be ready when it's ready' philosophy but ArenaNet founder Mike O'Brien has revealed that it should be out by the end of this year.

In honour of the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Dragon, O'Brien wrote on the ArenaNet website: "According to tradition, the dragon embodies passion, independence, and ambition. We think it's a perfect analogy for what we're trying to accomplish with Guild Wars 2."

He continued: "We recently finished our first closed beta test, and we're now ready to hold progressively larger events. In February we'll invite select press to participate in beta testing, and in March and April we'll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate. And of course, this all leads to the release of Guild Wars 2 later this year."
