Modern Warfare 3 sets a new record for reaching 1 billion USD in sales
News - MW3 beats Avatar by 24 hours
Activision has proudly announced that Call of Duty has yet again set new records for the time taken to reach the one billion USD sales mark.
Modern Warfare 3 managed to sell one billion USD worth of units in just 16 days beating Black Ops record and even beating James Cameron's Avatar by 24 hours.
This makes the latest Call of Duty title the fastest-grossing entertainment launch of all time across all media. It is also worth noting that Modern Warfare 3 made most of its money in the first five days making Activision 775 million USD in that time alone.
Bobby Kotick, Activision CEO said: "Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world. Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences are now valuing interactive experiences over passive experiences."
