News - RTS Sequel coming in 2005
Vivendi Universal Games has announced the development of Empire Earth 2, a full-blown sequel to 2001's real-time strategy hit.
The official announcement promises new units, powers, and leaders for the game's fourteen civilisations. In a new gameplay twist, all borders and cities will be used to trade resources, which is nice. Also mooted is enhanced AI, ambient weather and 'tactic altering' seasons - which will force players to adapt strategies to changing conditions.
Multiplayer RTS fans are also catered for with nine different game types and a "war planning screen" helping players co-ordinate units.
"Empire Earth was a tremendous worldwide success for us, but we aren't resting on our laurels for Empire Earth 2," enthused Michael Pole from the publisher. "We are going to great lengths to ensure that the sequel is in every way a worthy successor that builds upon the Empire Earth franchise."
