Sony contemplating a UMD conversion programme for the PS Vita
News - Hopefully this time they'll do it
With Sony doing away with their defunct UMD format in the new PS Vita, PSP gamers wanting to upgrade may be left with a large collection of games that they just won't be able to play.
The PS Vita is backwards compatible with the PSP but, for obvious reasons, it only works with the downloadable versions of the PSP's back catalogue.
The backwards compatibility will mean that the PS Vita will have access to somewhere between five and six hundred games on top of its launch titles.
Sony has only said that they are looking into the possibility of some kind of UMD exchange scheme at the moment and, given that it was promised but never materialised with the PSPGo it will be worth waiting to see if Sony can come good on this.
