Guerrilla's sign for PS2 exclusivity
News - Sony deal with Killzone developers
Formerly known as the Lost Boys, Dutch developer Guerrilla today confirmed an exclusivity deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe which ties-up the Killzone creator to future Sony-exclusivity, in addition to Killzone's PS2-only status. The new deal excludes Shellshock, being published by Eidos, but certainly demonstrates Sony's faith in the company who's Killzone FPS is already being hailed as a 'Halo-beater'.
The deal includes the strong possibility of future Killzone titles, and the hotly-anticipated release is currently on course for a release in October, 2004. Developments on future Sony hardware is also covered by the contract, and Sony Vice President Phil Harrison was justifiably pleased: "This strategic alliance with one of Europe's hottest new creative and technical talents shows our determination to only work with the best, whether they are our in-house or not."
"Killzone not only is a very important title for us but is also a great example of what can be done when a publisher and a developer partner closely together on a project. The results shout for themselves and I am delighted that our production and creative teams can work even more closely with Guerrilla going forward," Harrison added.
Hopefully we'll see more of Killzone at E3 in May.
