360 owners report disc read errors with Halo: Reach
News - Bungie's finale reaches too far for some 360s
Earlier this week, Bungie launched Halo: Reach, its final entry into the iconic series. While critics unanimously showered the title with praise, it seems a significant number of Xbox 360 owners are reporting the new game is giving them disc read errors.
The issue seems to be affecting older Xbox 360 units. Apparently, inserting the game disc into launch consoles will treat gamers to a disc read error or freeze the system altogether. However, when the same copies of the game are used on newer models, they work fine.
Reaching out to Joystiq, Microsoft confirmed some users were having problems. "We are aware of a very small number of customers reporting that their copy of Halo: Reach is causing a "disc read" error," a spokes person told Joystiq.
Both Microsoft and Bungie suggest affected players call customer support for guidance.
