Twilight Princess didn't meet expectations

News - Eiji Aonuma talks about Zelda on the Wii

Eiji Aonuma, the director of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and its secretive sequel said in an interview with IGN that Link's first Wii outing didn't quite meet their own expectations.

"With Twilight Princess, we challenged ourself to create the most vast and realistic world the series had ever seen, but we don't feel that we were able to fully complete this objective," said Eiji Aonuma. "With that as a starting point for our improvements to the series in the future, we are of course working on a new game for Wii."

Whilst work has begun on the MotionPlus-enabled sequel, it is not to be revealed properly until next year's E3. Fans of the legendary series will be heartened to know that Aonuma has set the bar just as high this time around.

He stresses: "For any game to be remembered for a long time, just like Ocarina of Time was, the game must give the strong impression that it has set a new starting point for future sequels to build upon. We are working to further improve upon the experiences found in Twilight Princess so that our future games can realize these innovations."
