Bungie working on non-Halo game

Having long expressed a desire to venture beyond the best-selling Halo series, Bungie has started searching for new designers to help with the creation of a brand new game.
A job listing posted to the Seattle-area developer's website claims a need for a writer to help create the company's "next game universe." Calls for programmers and artists are made too.
While Bungie has maintained its split from Microsoft was for the purpose of developing original games outside of the Halo universe, no announcements have been made since the company regained independence. This is the first indication development of a new game has indeed started.
Cue speculation.
