Iwata: Wii sales remain unhealthy
News - Console still lagging for Nintendo
Despite having yesterday predicted that Wii sales are on the up in Japan, and are now matching the PS3 thanks to a price cut, Satoru Iwata still says that the overall sales picture is far from rosy.
The September price cut saw weekly sales spike above 100,000, but volumes have subsequently dropped below 50,000 again, prompting concern from the big cheese.
"As you probably know, the current situation of Wii cannot be defined as healthy. The price cut seems to have the least impact here than other parts of the world," CVG quote the exec as revealing
"It is our urgent mission to recover the momentum of Wii during the holidays utilizing Nintendo's strength."
The Wii is this generation's leader, but sales have come off the boil in the last six months or so.
