Chinese World of Warcraft under threat
News - NetEase and Blizzard face the chop
Having battled to get their MMO back online following a change of service provider from The9 to NetEase, it seems Blizzard's World of Warcraft could be on the ropes once again.
According to a JLM report, the General Administration of Press and Publications has ordered NetEase to halt accepting subscriptions and new users for the game.
Apparently, these activities have been deemed 'illegal', while the organisation has halted a review of the game and even returned NetEase's application to operate in China.
None of this looks good for Blizzard and World of Warcraft of course, who faced an uphill battle just to get the MMO re-released followed the service provider transition. Meanwhile, China have also banned foreign MMO investment - which could also scupper WoW's chances in the end. More soon.
