Ubisoft will not release Assassin's Creed 2 demo
News - Players denied early stabbing action
While at the Eurogamer Expo in London, a Ubisoft representative informed Connected Consoles that there will not be a playable demo for the upcoming Assassin's Creed 2.
This is not altogether a new path for developer Ubisoft. In 2007 when predecessor Assassin's Creed was released it was the same story: no demo. The reasons behind this? We may never know. Perhaps Ubisoft doesn't feel inclined to sway gamers that are unsure of their products, or maybe they're just confident enough of the game's performance to begin with. Whatever the case may be, you won't be getting any early experiences with the game outside of expos.
However, the series now has a fairly well established fanbase and with early previews looking promising and a slew of ad campaigns getting underway, this likely will not hurt the publisher a great deal, if at all. It seems the only ones likely to be affected are those of you who were looking forward to a hands on sneak peek in your living room. Guess we'll all just have to tough it out until the full release.
We'll keep you posted on any new developments.
