PS3 sales rise as PS2 sales drop
News - Sony losses continue
Announcing troubled financial results for the second-quarter, Sony today confirm that despite this bad news - sales of the PS3 were up significantly over the same quarter in 2008.
PS3 sales hit 3.2 million over 2.4 million previously. PSP sales, on the other hand, dropped slightly to 3 million from 3.2 last year.
The PS2 on the other hand seems to finally be entering its demise - sales down to 1.9 million from 2.5 million before. Still, perhaps we should just be impressed its still competing at all.
During the period under discussion both PS3 and PSP game sales were up by a million or two, although PS2 sales fell off a cliff, more than halving.
Finally, VG247 have been totting things up and it transpires that Sony's PlayStation division has lost a gargantuan 4.7 billion dollars since the PS3's debut back in late 2006. Can you say ouch?
