Big name PC releases endorse dedicated servers
News - Brink and Battlefield 2 still using server format
Infinity Ward are ditching dedicated game servers for the multiplayer side of their titanic Modern Warfare 2 on the PC, the developer instead channeling all action through their IWNet service.
With this coming as something of a disappointment to members of the PC fraternity, other developers have rushed to affirm their support for dedicated servers.
"Since Battlefield 1942 DICE has used dedicated servers for all platforms. This formula has worked well, and still works well, for us and for the gaming community. We have stayed true to this practice and will continue this tradition into the upcoming title Battlefield Bad Company 2," DICE developer Gordan Van Dyke assures (thanks GI.biz).
Splash Damage, meanwhile, have also confirmed that Brink on the PC will also use dedicated servers, according to boss Paul Wedgwood - who says the game will sport free servers on day one on VG247.
