Sony discuss PS3 price cut

News - Facebook on PS3 also possible

Andrew House, boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, has said that the PS3's GamesCom price cut isn't a reaction to poor sales - also telling the Financial Times that Facebook could make it to the console.

"We are aware that consumers are watching their euros and pounds more carefully than before and it may make a price reduction have potentially even more impact. But it would not be fair to say this is a reaction to current market conditions," he explained.

On the topic of Facebook, set for Xbox Live integration this winter, House said that it was still possible the social network might make it to the PS3, despite Microsoft owning a share of the online social phenomenon.

"The goal is to move from a traditional short, toy-based life cycle to a longer, consumer electronics life cycle. The network allows us to give customers a better sense of value and continuous improvement."

More from House as we get it.
