PS3 and Xbox 360 price cuts this autumn?

More price-cut related speculation this morning, as we hear that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 should get a bit cheaper this autumn, that's the word from an industry source who has apparently been blabbing to Ars Technica.

The so-called 'mole' says that Sony could begin phasing out the 80Gb PS3 SKU within the next two months, and that this system will eventually disappear - Sony introducing a Slim model PS3 this autumn (alongside a lower price point).

The 160Gb model PS3 is also likely to become scarce, although it is unclear the exact configuration of the new Slim system that will spearhead the console's pre-Christmas push.

Over at Microsoft, meanwhile, we hear that the Pro model is on the way out the door - the Xbox 360 Elite becoming 'standard', with a new bundle being readied for the festive assault. We've no specifics on any of this, and certainly no pricing word, so this has to be taken as idle gossip for now.

More on this as we get it. If we get it.
