Xbox Originals become Games on Demand
News - One more oldie to go for Xbox downloads
Xbox Originals arrived on the scene back in 2007, delivering Xbox classics such as Fable and Halo to the Xbox 360 in cheap, downloadable form. It seems things haven't worked out, however, with Microsoft confirming the winding-down of the service.
While some of the earlier Originals releases proved popular, later titles were more sporadic and less popular, Microsoft telling Kotaku it has now "finished it's portfolio".
One more unnamed release is still to come, however, before Microsoft stop adding new games to the platform. The existing roster of titles will of course remain live, but there are no plans for any further additions.
On Xbox.com the store has already been re-branded, and will be included in Microsoft's initial offering of 'Games on Demand' - to be joined, no doubt, by a smorgasbord of new games later. More as we get it.
