News - Nix thought demise was a 'joke'
Steve Nix of id Software fame is genuinely shocked that Duke Nukem Forever has been canned by 3D Realms, the industry veteran claiming that he thought the game's collapse was one of those internet 'things'.
Speaking to VideoGamer, Nix admits that he thought the cancellation was a joke - even after 3D Realms admitted to their problems.
"I thought it was a joke when I heard the other day. Definitely extremely saddened and surprising that those guys aren't there and we may never see the game we were all looking forward to," Nix told the UK website.
The game had been in the works for 12 years before 3D Realms finally ran out of funding for the terminally-delayed project. Publisher Take-Two are suing over the game's demise.
