Hardware sales plummet in Japan

News - A bad week in the far-east

The latest gaming numbers have been unleashed in Japan, and they show that last week sales of consoles dropped in the land of the rising sun - presumably prompted by a rather bare release schedule.

The DSi leads the way - as has become the norm - with sales of nearly 39,000 over the week, followed by the PSP with just over 29,000. Then there's the Wii console with over 17,000 units shifted.

Entering the lower regions of the chart, the PS3 managed over 10,000 units, the Xbox 360 up on well over 6,000 next (the only system to sell more this week), while the DS Lite had nearly 6,000 sales followed by the PS2 with over 4,000.

We'll bring you more on all this soon.
