Nintendo embrace user-generated content
News - Facebook, level creation, mini-games
At their E3 2009 press briefing today Nintendo announced several titles and initiatives aimed at allowing the user to share content created on their DS handheld.
Empowering user-generated content on the format - the DSi will allow the automatic uploading and modification of photos to Facebook. An interesting idea, using the DSi's built-in camera. Microsoft also announced Facebook integration on their Xbox 360 platform, yesterday.
Flip Note Studio will be released for the DSi this summer, allowing players to create their own simple movies and share them with friends over Wifi.
Nintendo are also working on Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, which will see players creating their own levels and designing their own foes. This will be out on 8th June on DSiWare.
Then there's a new game design tool on the way, allowing players to invent their own games. This will allow players to design and share their own mini-games, also making use of the DSi's camera. The big N claim that this consumer product mimic's the companies own professional creative game design process.
