StarCraft II out in 2009

News - But RTS could slip, to maintain standards

Speaking to investors at a webcast on the eve of E3, Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime has affirmed that StarCraft II will be released before the year is out.

Despite sounding somewhat confident about the date during the briefing, the high-flyer admits that the RTS sequel will not be released until the firm are happy with the end product - making delays plausible.

"We're targeting an end of year release - this year - for StarCraft II, but, as always, we won't release it until it meets our standards and the expectations of our players," the big cheese offered.

A beta test of the new game will begin later this summer.
