Hanuman game sparks Hindu row

News - Statesman wants deity game pulled

A new game released India by Sony, called Hanuman: Boy Warrior, has been attacked by Hindu political figure Rajan Zed, who claims the title "trivializes the highly revered deity of Hinduism."

Zed wants the game removed from shelves, and says religion should not be used for games in an arbitrary manner than can have an impact on children.

"Controlling and manipulating Lord Hanuman with a joystick/button/keyboard/mouse was denigration," said Zed, speaking from Universal Society of Hinduism in Nevada.

"Lord Hanuman was not meant to be reduced to just a 'character' in a videogame to solidify company/products base in the growing economy of India."
