Nintendo consider Wii price drop?
News - Could pass on savings to consumers
Speaking this week, as it was revealed that the Wii console sold less units in Japan last month than the PS3 managed, Credit Suisse suit Koya Tabata has said that Wii costs have fallen some 45 per cent since launching in 2006.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Tabata said that these manufacturing savings may soon be passed on to consumers if Nintendo become overly concerned by flagging sales.
While the PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan last month, Nintendo put this down to early year apathy, rather than anything more sinister (like Sony doing better).
"It is still the first few months of the year when sales are slow for the industry, so we are not particularly concerned," one spokesperson offered.
No price cut yet, it would seem.
