News - Game maker takes on OnLive

Perry unveils Gaikai cloud game service

OnLive hasn't even launched yet, but already the 'cloud' gaming service is getting some competition - Dave Perry unveiling Gaikai this morning.

Once again a console-free offering is the order of the day, Perry confident that Gaikai will offer a better service - the system not even requiring of a browser plug-in.

Apparently, the technical specifications remain vague, but Perry is sure he's going the right route negating the browser add-on.

"Our solution is arguably better than anything OnLive has - they're never going to be able to beat us on this," Perry told GI.biz.

"They have to download 1Mb and install it on your computer. What does that mean? It means that everyone in schools, or any kind of uptight or professional business location is not going to be able to download some random game via the internet and install it."

More from Perry on Gaikai just as soon as we get it.
