Games losing appeal in Japan
News - Interest on the wane in the land of the rising sun
The appeal of games may be on the wane in Japan, a new Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association poll finding that the number people considering themselves "gamers" dropped by a whopping 30 per cent between 2007 and 2008.
Blog Kotaku suggests that this could mean as many as six million fewer gamers, 1000 people between ages three and 79 taking part in the survey.
One in three participants stated that they played console titles at home regularly, although a lot of those questioned also said they were simply not interested in gaming.
This survey seems to fit in with concerns emanating from Japan; that people are less interested in hardcore games presently, while the UK could overtake Japan as the world's second largest games market this very year.
