Nintendo not competing with Sony and Microsoft

News - Real challenge is about perceptions

Speaking to the Asia News Network, Nintendo's South Korean chief Mineo Koda has said that his firm aren't directly competing with either Sony or Microsoft.

"People often ask such questions, and we say our competitor is neither those companies, but consumer indifferent to games," Koda offered, when asked about rival console makers.

He said that Nintendo's biggest need is to change people's attitudes to games in general, changing the perception of those put off by violence in the medium.

The executive is unsurprising upbeat about the growth prospects in the Korean market, too, as people move away from the online games, one of the country's major hobbies.
