Wii price cut denied by Nintendo

Nintendo of America chief Reggie Fils-Aime has said this week that that there are no plans afoot to reduce the price of the Wii console anytime soon. This despite Microsoft's aggressive moves with the Xbox 360 (now cheaper than the Wii).

"At some point, it will be time to adjust," Fils-Aime told Forbes. "But we're nowhere near that point now."

Fils-Aime also took a pop at third-party developers, suggesting they're still struggling to get their best titles on the Wii: "I will be able to say our licensees 'get it' when their very best content is on our platform. And with very few exceptions today, that's not the case," the big boss explained.

Second-in-command Cammie Dunaway yesterday predicted that 2009 will be the year hardcore gamers start embracing the Wii, thanks to third-party releases.
