Harry Potter pushed back, EA lose big

News - 120 million off the balance sheets

We learned yesterday that Electronic Arts have been forced to push back Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince into summer 2009, in order for the new officially licensed game to debut at the same time as the Warner Bros' film.

However, what wasn't disclosed was the extent to which this move will hit EA's revenues for the current financial year. Yahoo tell us this could lose the firm a whopping 120 million USD.

"We’re excited about the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game in development and its high level of authenticity and playability," enthused EA Casual boss Robert Nashak.

"We are creating an immersive game experience that Potter fans around the world will really enjoy playing as they fly and duel their way through the story of the film. The game will feature new Wii gestures and increased gameplay capabilities across all of the platforms."
