PS3 should beat PS2 lifetime sales figures.

News - Wonder if anyone's told Nintendo.

If you thought the aging PS2 had done well when it comes to lifetime sales then prepare to be amazed because SCEE president David Reeves has been speaking about Sony's belief that the PS3 will eventually overtake it.

Despite the slightly slow start to its life the PS3 is picking up steam somewhat now and Reeves says: "The PS3 install base is growing faster that the PS2's was at this point in its lifecycle."

"The next five years are going to be turbulent. But I think it is going to be the most exciting period that we have ever seen in the past ten years of video games,"

A bold boast considering the competitiveness of this console generation compared to the relatively free run of things Sony had last time around with the Nintendo's Gamecube never coming close to competing and Microsoft’s first Xbox having its useful life cut short.
