Boy tried to murder parents over PlayStation ban
News - US teen in court over murder plot
A Maryland teenager tried to hire a hitman to murder his parents, after they prevented him from playing his PlayStation, reports in The Register today reveal.
Corey Ryder, 17, apparently told a juvenile court of the plot, after being caught trying to coerce a man he believed to be an assassin into undertaking the deed, in return for his father's pick-up truck. The 'hitman' was in fact an undercover cop.
The trap was set after the mother of one of Ryder's friends heard him talking about killing his parents, and she contacted the local police concerned that the teenager just might to be speaking the truth. He is now in custody facing an attempted murder charge.
Ryder was apparently seeking revenge for the confiscation of his games console, being banned from watching television, and being 'grounded'. He is likely to be imprisoned until he is 21.
