S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky confirmed

GSC Game World have confirmed the next title in the well-reviewed, if long-coming, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. A new prequel expansion pack is the order of the day, in the shape of Clear Sky.
The new add-on for the first-person shooter will commence one year before the events in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, filling in the back-story of Strelok and the beginnings of 'the Zone'. We're promised a few new nuclear foes, too.
Clear Sky will incorporate DirectX 10 support, making for improved performance and even more impressive aesthetics versus the DirectX 9 powered original. Exploring the perils of the Zone, players will be able to join any of the game's factions - leading them to triumph. The HUD and PDA systems have been tweaked, and there's a new upgrade system for weapons and armour to boot.
A release in the first-quarter of 2008 is promised and we're certainly intrigued. More soon.
